- Lead and oversee the Finance, Budget, and General Accounting functions, including staff supervision, development, and performance management.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, cost reports, variance analysis, and key performance indicators.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the hospital’s annual budget in collaboration with department leaders and executive management.
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and trend reporting to support strategic planning, operational decisions, and organizational performance.
- Serve as liaison with internal and external auditors, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Identify opportunities for financial improvement, cost savings, and revenue enhancement, including evaluation of new services, grants, and fiscal initiatives.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least twelve (12\) semester hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.
- Five (5\) years of progressively responsible professional accounting and/or auditing experience, including participation in budget preparation and long\-range financial planning.
- One (1\) year of supervisory experience, including planning, organizing, directing work, and developing staff.
- Professional accounting or auditing experience, or responsible experience maintaining general ledger accounts and preparing financial statements, may substitute for required education on a year\-for\-year basis; six (6\) months of such experience may substitute for the required accounting coursework.
- A bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester credits in accounting may substitute for one (1\) year of required fiscal management experience.
- A master’s degree in accounting may substitute for two (2\) years of required fiscal management experience.
- A CPA license may substitute for the educational requirement and four (4\) years of the required fiscal management experience.

Job Description
The East Hawai'i Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation is seeking a Fiscal Management Officer to provide strategic financial leadership and oversight, including General Accounting and Finance \& Budget departments. In this role, you will partner with hospital leadership to ensure financial integrity, support operational decision\-making, and promote long\-term fiscal sustainability. This position plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission by aligning financial strategy with patient care priorities across East Hawai‘i.
Location: This position allows for a hybrid (remote/in office) work environment for a State of Hawaii resident, with a requirement for an incumbent living outside of Hilo to work on\-site at HBMC at regular intervals throughout the year (approximately four times per year for visits of approximately one week each). Airfare and lodging will be paid for by the organization, in accordance with our policies.
