JOB SUMMARY
Event Leads will represent Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ as the on\-site leader of our concession stand at Hartford Yard Goats home games. This role is responsible for overseeing daily concession operations during games, delivering fast, high\-quality food and exceptional guest service in a high\-volume, fast\-paced stadium environment.
The Event Lead serves as the primary point of contact for Yard Goats staff and Bear’s team members, ensuring smooth execution, strong communication, and a consistently positive guest experience. - Work collaboratively with restaurant and event management teams to pack all food, paper products, smallwares and equipment per the Event Order in an organized and timely manner to ensure prompt departure for games.
- Follow all department processes and procedures, including use of various checklists to ensure all tasks are completed.
- Practice safe food handling at all times, with particular attention to time and temperature controls. Record temperature data per company policy.
- Direct and oversee staff to ensure concession stand set up and break down follow specific timelines and outlines.
- Lead all concession stand operations during Yard Goats home games.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stadium staff and Bear’s management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Yardgoats staff and guests during the event. Interact in a friendly, professional manner, ensuring a positive partner and guest experience. Report any immediate or urgent concerns to management.
- Supervise, train, and direct concession staff to ensure efficient and professional service.
- Maintain fast, friendly, and accurate service in a high\-volume environment.

- Ensure all food is prepared and served according to Bear’s recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor food safety, including strict adherence to time and temperature controls.
- Take and record food temperatures per company policy.
- Oversee inventory levels of food, beverage, and paper goods; communicate needs proactively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and guest\-ready service area at all times reducing visibility of extra food, supplies, etc from guest view.
- Ensure accurate POS transactions including processing credit cards, issuing refunds, etc. Communicate any issues or discrepancies through appropriate channels.
- Complete daily event logs and submit end of shift reports.
- Communicate operational and staff updates or concerns to management.
- Assist managers with venue inventory and waste logs.
- Remain flexible to operational needs, including extended shifts due to rain delays or extra innings
- Represent the Bear’s brand with professionalism and energy at all times
- Drive company vehicles to and from events safely and efficiently.
- Primarily every other week: 6 consecutive home games
- Tuesday–Friday: evening games
- Saturday–Sunday: daytime games
- Ability to pick up shifts with the Event Department during off\-weeks
- Potential for continued employment beyond the baseball season
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or at least 1 year of relevant industry experience.
- Ability to lead a team independently in a fast\-paced, high\-volume setting while providing outstanding customer service and creating a positive guest experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with partners, and guests, including VIPs, and address their needs effectively.
- Capability to work independently while leading and coordinating the event team to ensure smooth operations.
- Proactive problem\-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges during events.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, including food preparation, order accuracy, and on\-site event setup.
- Efficient time management to ensure timely preparation and execution of events.
- Familiarity with menu items and the ability to explain and recommend items confidently to guests.
- Understanding of food safety and handling practices to maintain quality standards.
- Competence in POS functions and processing credit card transactions accurately.
- Experience with inventory tracking, waste logs, and daily event reporting.
- Proficiency in driving company vehicles and adhering to safety standards.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high\-visibility or high\-pressure situations.
- Keen attention to detail to ensure order accuracy, cleanliness, and adherence to company.
- Strong teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with event staff and managers.
- Ability to delegate tasks and support team members to achieve event goals.
- Successful completion of company training program.
- ServSafe certification \- must have or obtain within 8 weeks of start date and maintain certification throughout the course of employment.
- Alcohol server certification \- must have or obtain within 8 weeks of start date and maintain certification throughout the course of employment.
- Onboarding and retraining is required for re\-hires with a lapse in employment of four months or more.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to attend off\-site meetings and drive company vehicles as needed.
- Proof of personal insurance that meets company requirements.
- Clear motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
- Comply with company policies regarding safe driving practices and maintain a clean driving record throughout the duration of employment.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles, including large vans, box trucks, food trucks, and combination truck/trailer units.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods (up to 8\+ hours) during events.
- Capacity to perform repetitive tasks, such as serving food and beverages or clearing tables, throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds, such as food, trays, tables, chairs, and other catering equipment.
- Comfortable maneuvering and carrying heavy trays of food and beverages safely.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to set up and clear tables, arrange event spaces, and access supplies or equipment.
- Strong hand\-eye coordination for carrying trays, and serving guests efficiently and safely.
- Ability to navigate crowded or confined spaces quickly and efficiently without disrupting guests or the event flow.
- Comfortable working indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions, depending on the event location.
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating temperatures in kitchens, serving areas, or outdoor venues.
- Ability to maintain clear and professional communication while performing physical tasks, ensuring guest needs are met promptly.
- Sharp hearing acuity to communicate and respond effectively in loud environments with significant background noise, typical of restaurant and event settings.
- Withstand exposure to possible food allergens including but not limited to; meats, fish, nuts, dairy, and oils.
- Withstand exposure to and work with cleaning chemicals.
