Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor oversees the clinical and administrative functions of nursing staff during assigned shifts in a nursing home setting. This role ensures high\-quality care for residents, adherence to regulatory standards, and efficient coordination of resident services. The Nursing Supervisor acts as a leader, mentor, and resource for nurses, CNAs, and other care team members.

- Monitor the delivery of nursing care to ensure it meets standards of quality, safety, and resident dignity.
- Conduct rounds to assess resident conditions and address concerns promptly.
- Coordinate and supervise implementation of resident care plans.
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate appropriate care and documentation.
- Supervise and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) during assigned shifts.
- Provide guidance, direction, and clinical support as needed.
- Participate in staff evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing development.
- Ensure proper shift hand\-offs, documentation, and communication between teams.
- Ensure all care practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHRs).
- Assist in preparing for inspections, audits, and surveys (e.g., from CMS, state health department).
- Monitor medication administration and ensure adherence to physician orders.
- Assist with or perform complex treatments as needed.
- Investigate and report medication errors or adverse events per policy.
- Act as a liaison between staff, residents, families, physicians, and external providers.
- Address resident or family concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (social workers, rehab, dietary, etc.) to coordinate holistic care.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Virginia
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Minimum \[2–3] years of nursing experience in long\-term care or geriatric setting
- Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred
- Current CPR/BLS Certification
- Knowledge of nursing home regulations, infection control, and care planning
- Strong leadership, problem\-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Moderate physical activity:
- Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50\) pounds to a minimum height of three (3\) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50\) feet.
- Standing and/or walking for more than four (4\) hours per day.
- Bending and/or stooping for more than one (1\) hour at a time.
- Sitting for more than one (1\) hour at a time.
- Requires writing and/or computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on computer screen and/or documents for more than one (1\) hour at a time.
