Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail\-oriented Bookkeeper and HOPE Grant Coordinator to join our team. This vital role combines precise bookkeeping responsibilities with the coordination of HOPE (Housing Outreach Pet Education) grant activities, ensuring accurate financial management and seamless grant administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, experience with various financial software, and a passion for supporting nonprofit initiatives. Responsibilities Manage day\-to\-day bookkeeping tasks using accounting software such as QuickBooks, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up\-to\-date Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to maintain precise financial records Conduct bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable processing in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Oversee payroll processing and ensure timely payments while maintaining compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements Prepare detailed financial reports, including budget analysis and financial report writing to support organizational decision\-making Coordinate HOPE grant activities by tracking expenditures, preparing documentation, and ensuring adherence to grant guidelines, maintaining all required electronic files required by Grant. Facilitate communication between internal teams and County regarding financial matters and grant compliance, Including monthly reporting to KARE Board, Quarterly reporting to KARE Board and Year\-end reporting to County and KARE Board. Assist with governmental accounting requirements related to grants and public funding sources Provide for record retention for 7 years. (KARE facility holds records) Document asset management. Provide support for KARE Executive Director and HOPE Manager. Complete all Grant mandated Training Remote work This work will be done at the employee’s home, but will required some in person meetings. Skills Proficiency in software such as QuickBooks, Google Suite, Microsoft Work, Excel and Powerpoint platforms Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles as well as nonprofit\-specific accounting practices Knowledge of GAAP standards, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation processes Experience with governmental accounting procedures related to grants and public funds Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and account reconciliation accurately and efficiently Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes, payroll management, and tax reporting experience Excellent organizational skills for data entry and record keeping Effective communication skills for preparing financial reports and coordinating grant activities Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
