Job Status: This position is part\-time, 20 hours per week.

Schedule: Shifts will be Monday \- Friday 3\-8pm.

Wage: $24\.00/hour

Section II \- Description of Duties Performed

General Summary of Purpose of this Position:

Under the general supervision of the Kitchen Production Manager the Evening Shift Lead demonstrates exceptional customer service while acting as the evening manager overseeing rotating groups of new and returning volunteers. Responsible for establishing and modeling customer service expectations and training evening volunteer groups for the delivery of a quality dining experience. Evening Shift Leads also ensure safety and proper food handling techniques, maintain temperature logs and meal records, and supervise evening clean up. Performs other duties as required.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1\. Operations (80%)

  • Train and supervise volunteers in performance of customer service, food handling, adhering to food safety standards, maintaining inventory records, and cleaning and closing duties of the Fork \& Spoon during meal service
  • Maintain positive relationships with volunteers
  • Assist with food preparations as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to Fork \& Spoon patrons
  • Ensure Fork \& Spoon is a welcoming, safe dining space for all patrons
  • Set up, oversee, and close Fork \& Spoon point of sale system
  • 2\. Communication/Reporting (17%)

  • Maintain food and temperature logs in accordance with predetermined guidelines
  • Provide customer counts/data to FOH Manager
  • Maintain communications with supervisor and other Evening Shift Leads through a communications log
  • Document problems and issues as they arise
  • Attend monthly Evening Shift Lead meetings outside of normal shift hours
  • 3\. Corporate Engagement (3%)

  • Attends monthly all\-staff meeting
  • Reads employee communications and weekly newsletters
  • Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities that are required or preferred for success in this position.

    Experience:

  • Two years of food service experience (floor manager, wait staff, bartender or runner) preferred
  • Education:

  • Graduation from high school or GED required
  • Confidentiality:

  • This position requires regular handling of sensitive and confidential client and agency information. This position may have access to reports, records, and personnel files, and must exercise the highest level of discretion, judgment, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Language Skills:

  • Read and comprehend basic instructions and orally exchange information to others
  • Spanish encouraged
  • Mathematical/ Money Handling Skills:

  • Basic counting skills
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide simple numbers
  • Handle small amounts of cash
  • Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Safety:

  • The person in this position complies with HRDC safety policies, procedures \& guidelines; participates in safety training \& drills as required; Reports unsafe conditions, incidents or near misses immediately; takes proactive steps to ensure the work area is clean and safe at all times.
  • Software/Tools/Technologies:

  • Comfortable using standard office \& collaboration tools such as Google Workspace \& virtual meeting platforms. In addition, ensuring accurate data entry.
  • Operate multi\-line phone to place, receive or transfer calls or to retrieve voice mail messages.
  • Computer Software and Operating Systems:

  • Utilize computer spreadsheet to input, format, and edit data and save, print, or transmit data
  • Utilize computer word processing to input, format, and edit documents and save, print, or transmit documents
  • Utilize computer Internet/ E\-Mail to access, send, retrieve, save, print, or transmit documents, or data files
  • Operate personal computer with Windows operating system to start programs, input, format, and edit data files and print or transmit data
  • Utilize proprietary, custom or online programs or data bases to input, format, and edit data and save, print, or transmit data. Specify software: Google Docs
  • HRDC, Professional or Governmental Policies and Regulations:

  • The person in this position must comply with State and Federal regulations and laws, Agency (HRDC) policies and procedures, and specialized professional or industry guidelines/standards.
  • Drivers Licenses Required for Performing this Position:

  • Valid Driver License
  • Professional Licenses or Certifications Required by Law, Rule or Regulation for Performing this Position:

  • Serve Safe Certification (Can be completed after hire)
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills or Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with a wide range of individuals from all socio\-economic groups
  • Ability to read, interpret and implement documents such as policies, rules, and procedure manuals
  • Ability work with minimal supervision and effectively manage work flow
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers or claimants

  • Essential physical, mental and emotional requirements of this position

    The following physical, mental and emotional abilities are considered essential to perform the duties listed above:

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Section III \- Supervision

    Supervision Received:

  • This position operates under general supervision and coordinates with supervisor if/when fluctuations to the regularly scheduled activities occurs. Consults with supervisor regularly on all projects.
  • This position has the following supervisory responsibilities:

  • Daily supervision and direction of volunteers
  • Section IV \- Decisions

    Impact of Decisions and Errors Made by Position:

  • Decisions, final recommendations and/or errors primarily affect clients of the Fork \& Spoon program.
  • Judgment required to make decisions:

  • Requires judgment from time to time in the application of broader aspects of established practices to problems and situations not falling clearly or concisely within the limitations of accepted standards or precedents. Employee resolves routine problems and refers unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Exception Authority:

  • This position cannot authorize exceptions to program policy or procedure.
  • Section V \- Financial Responsibility

    This position is accountable for the following company money, funds, and budgets:

  • Handles cash or checks for misc. errands using petty cash or purchase order.
  • Handles cash or checks from individual donors
  • Handles cash or checks from dinner patrons

    The incumbent is responsible for the following personal contacts (either in oral or written form) when performing the duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Daily interaction with the public and/or consumers.
  • Section VII \- Working Conditions

    The incumbent is exposed to the following unusual, potentially hazardous or unpleasant working conditions:

  • Works in temperature controlled restaurant environment;
  • Daily exposure to risk of cuts, burns, slips, falls or other minor injuries (not requiring hospitalization)
  • Monthly or less frequent exposure to risk of injuries that may result in a permanent disability or death (possibility of having a car accident)
