- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR), including data entry, documentation, and chart audits
- Facilitate communication between physicians, nurses, patients, families, and ancillary departments
- Prepare and manage patient documentation, including forms, medical records, and transfer/discharge paperwork
- Support staffing coordination, scheduling updates, and timekeeping functions as assigned
- Provide front\-line customer service by assisting patients and visitors, managing calls, and responding to inquiries

Job Description
Join a dedicated team where your work directly supports life\-saving care in our Emergency Department. As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient flow, accurate documentation, and effective communication among care teams—helping deliver timely, high\-quality care to our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent
* Experience:
+ General: Two (2\) years of clerical or administrative experience involving office procedures, communication, and recordkeeping
+ For the Health Unit Coordinator II, in addition to the above, one (1\) year of experience in a healthcare setting working with medical records, physician/nursing orders, and/or EMR systems
* Substitution: An Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for all of the required General Experience.
* Knowledge \& Skills:
+ Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical record systems
+ Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
+ Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and perform effectively in a fast\-paced environment
+ Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)

Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1\.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.*
Pre\-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre\-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
