Overview:

Schedule: Monday\-Friday and every other weekend; Day Shift Purpose Statement/Position Summary: Under direct supervision of unlicensed or licensed CLS, MLT, or section manager, the Clinical Lab Technician II functions as an unlicensed or licensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Senior level position. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

Required:

• 1\+ years of experience working for a large laboratory or academic institution.
• 3\+ years of experience in technical phlebotomy, if blood collection is required for lab section.
• Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine.

Preferred:

• Processing experience.
• 1 year of pediatric experience in a Hospital setting, Clinic setting, or reference lab.
• 1 year of experience in specimen processing in a Hospital setting, Clinic setting, or reference lab.

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certificate verifiable by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) when duties include phlebotomy.

Preferred:

• AA degree.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
