Under the direction of the Illinois Supreme Court, the ARDC registers and supports attorneys, produces and delivers innovative education and outreach programs, and provides restorative services. Through thorough investigations of complaints and fair proceedings, we address allegations of attorney misconduct and unauthorized practice of law. We ensure accountability while also advocating for those harmed by misconduct.

Currently, the ARDC is seeking two detail\-oriented and dedicated Docket Clerks. The Docket Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely intake, processing, and distribution of incoming communications, both physical and electronic. This role ensures precise data entry and document management to support the creation and maintenance of investigative case files in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Docketing and Case Management

  • Receive, scan, process, and distribute incoming hard copy mail and electronic communications
  • Docket new charges and accurately enter case\-related data into the electronic case management system in accordance with established standards and procedural guidelines
  • Create and maintain electronic investigative files by organizing and profiling incoming complaints and related materials
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all docket entries
  • Document Handling and Format Management

  • Convert electronic files into accessible, standardized PDF formats, ensuring compliance with digital accessibility standards (e.g., screen reader compatibility, proper heading structure)
  • Retrieve documents and case\-related information from ARDC's online portal and process or distribute as appropriate
  • Apply consistent document naming conventions and profiling practices to support efficient search and retrieval
  • Assist in processing and organizing non\-standard media (e.g., audio, video, large attachments) to ensure usability and system compatibility
  • Communication and Support

  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries related to incoming communications and docket entries
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure accurate routing and handling of case materials
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Quality and Compliance

  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and data management standards
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues related to case intake or document processing
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to docketing and document workflows
  • Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Associate’s degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, criminal justice or equivalent law firm experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a docket clerk or legal administrative role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups of people
  • Previous experience in a fast\-paced environment
  • High attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and case management or legal document management systems
