This position serves to support the Lab Services Supervisor in overseeing the operations of the Outside In medical laboratory. This includes working with and providing assistance to clinic laboratory volunteers (Lab Assistants) and managing overall laboratory responsibilities.
Essential Duties
- Work alongside Lab Assistants to support them in lab operations, including assisting in volunteer orientation and training, with the possibility of volunteer coordination
- Assure adequate Lab Assistant coverage in lab to meet provider demands, communicating with supervisor when there are anticipated shortages utilizing CA scheduling tools, including the CA Google Calendar
- Facilitate communication between Lab Assistants and staff on various shifts
- Draw blood from patients for medical testing.
- Prepare and process blood tests.
- Assist clinic coordinators, medical assistants, and healthcare providers with clinical and administrative tasks, including overseeing correct specimen collection and performance
- Utilize laboratory computers to communicate with healthcare providers around performing, processing, and logging test results
- Clean and organize laboratory area, including biannual cleaning of laboratory area
- Maintain and sterilize all laboratory equipment appropriately
- Coordinate laboratory site inspection visits to mobile clinics and SBHC with Lab Services Supervisor
- Work with Lab Services Supervisor to assure proper ordering, stocking, and rotation of laboratory supplies
- Model professional behavior for Lab Assistants with clients, staff, and providers
- Maintain records of laboratory test results, including archiving past laboratory test logs
- Coordinate quality assurance and control tests on CLIA waived laboratory tests
- Maintenance and documentation of laboratory equipment and sterilization of lab equipment
- Support Lab Services Supervisor in any additional laboratory or laboratory volunteer functions.

- Phlebotomy certification required within 60 days of hire

Working Conditions
This position is located in a typical medical office laboratory and clinic environment, with moderate noise. Work is onsite, no remote work.
Physical Requirements
This job requires operating phones, computers and other office equipment. Communicating is required on a regular basis. Moving inside the building to other offices and program delivery spaces as well as moving to surrounding sites is expected. Sporadically moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.
