ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Assistant US Controller will be based in the US reporting into the US Group Controller, also based in the US. We are seeking an experienced assistant controller to manage the accounting operations of NPD Digital LLC, comprising 3 separate lines of business operating within the one legal entity, being NPD US, NPAccel and Ubersuggest.

Reporting to the US Group Controller, the Assistant Controller will oversee the operations of the Accounting Department across all 3 US businesses. In addition, this role will manage the Accounting Team, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Strong communication skills are essential with the ability to effectively communicate with team members and business partners, in a remote environment. Desire and ability to be an active participant in all aspects of the accounting operations. Development of interpersonal relationships and analytical skills to understand the needs of the business and to work effectively with US business leaders is essential.

This role is available due to an internal transition, offering a great opportunity for a new team member to join and make an impact. To qualify, applicants must reside and be eligible to work in the US. Preference for Eastern, Central or Mountain time zone working hours.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the US accounting team of approx. 6\-7 people, including 2 direct reports,as well as mentoring the team and identifying relevant training opportunities
  • Manage the month\-end closing process, paying particular attention to ensure all month\-end closing activities are completed accurately on a timely basis:
  • + Ensure adherence to the month end close timeline and checklist

    + Manage the accounting team ensuring that they are meeting deadlines to successfully complete the month end close within established timeline

    + Prepare and approve journal entries and accounts payable, on an as needed basis

    + In\-depth knowledge of ASC606

    + Review balance sheet reconciliations,on a monthly basis, including intercompany reconciliations

    + Review P\&L and balance sheet prior to presentation of financials to the CFO each month

  • Champion training and process improvement initiatives suggesting workflow improvements to internal and external processes and initiating solutions for improved efficiency, accuracy, and quality
  • Lead large scope initiatives,as outlined by the US Group Controller, to be able to scale systems, tools and organizational structure to align with future growth
  • Responsible for building a high performing and engaging culture within the team
  • Maintain internal controls relative to financial operations to ensure overall compliance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures
  • Support the annual audit of the US businesses by providing all relevant documents and selections as requested
  • Remain up to date on accounting best practices and state and federal law regarding accounting operations
  • Contribute to the overall strategic plans for the accounting department, in collaboration with the Group Controller
  • Create strong and effective internal partnerships and collaborate across the business
  • Create andmaintaina documented system of accounting policies and procedures where required
  • Other accounting duties as assigned
  • ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, required
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation, required
  • Public accounting experience, strongly preferred
  • 5 years or more of related experience, required
  • 3 years or more experience leading and managing an accounting team
  • Prior experience in Marketing or a SaaS environment preferred
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Prior experience with NetSuite is preferable or experience in using a large ERP system
  • High level of accuracy and efficiency while managing multiple priorities
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite, including high proficiency in Excel (pivot tables,vlookups and various commonly used formulae in the accounting industry)

  • ABOUT THE COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: USD $135,000\.00 to $145,000\.00; depending on experience and skills
  • Discretionary annual bonus: Up to 10% of annual salary
