Responsibilities:

  • Apple Grove is seeking a
  • strong, hands\-on independent, experienced Assistant Director of Operation of to oversee day\-to\-day operations of our foster care, treatment programs and Adult Program. This role works closely with Executive Director to manage staff, ensure program excellence, regulatory compliance, and crisis response while ensuring services meet DFS, licensing, and contract standards.

    The Assistant Director plays a critical leadership role in staff supervision, case oversight, foster parent support, and operational coordination.

    Overview

  • Assist in overseeing daily foster care program operations
  • Supervise case managers, support staff, and recruiters
  • Ensure compliance with DFS, DCFS, DRC, Medicaid, and licensing requirements
  • Review case files, treatment plans, and documentation for accuracy and quality
  • Support foster parent recruitment, training, and retention efforts
  • Provide crisis intervention support for placements and foster homes
  • Monitor placement stability, incident reports, and service delivery outcomes
  • Assist in audits, certification reviews, and corrective action plans
  • Coordinate with community partners, referral sources, and state agencies
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff to ensure strong performance
  • Step in for Program Director when needed to maintain continuity of leadership

  • Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of foster care and treatment programs
  • Ensure compliance with DFS, licensing, contracts, and accreditation standards
  • Supervise program staff, case managers, coordinators, and contractors
  • Lead hiring, training, supervision, evaluations, and performance management
  • Oversee placement, admissions, and referral processes
  • Work closely with placement team and DFS partners
  • Monitor facilities, staff, vehicles, safety, and program operations
  • Intervene in crisis situations and participate in on\-call rotation
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Support budget planning and resource management
  • Lead staff meetings and program meetings
  • Support foster parent training, PRIDE, and support groups
  • Serve on internal and external committees
  • Participate in monthly foster parent support group
  • Participate in on\-call rotation
  • Ensures that data is provided to support staff on admission
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a growing program
  • Review and develop ongoing systems as the program expands and grows
  • Evaluate new opportunities and strategically plan for implantation
  • Review and approve new foster family home, as well as yearly reassessments
  • Provide direct oversight to the foster care program including trainings, recruitment, retention, policy and supervision of staff
  • Attend all stakeholders’ meetings
  • Responsible for overall compliance of foster families and family/child files with regulatory standards
  • Comply with all COA standards
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field. Masters preferred.
  • 5\+ years’ experience in foster care, child welfare, or behavioral health
  • 2\+ years in management or leadership
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision\-making skills
  • Must be flexible and available for evenings, weekends, holidays, and on call
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DFS/DCFS systems and foster care regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Passion for supporting youth and families
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed or license\-eligible (LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, etc.)
  • Experience with Medicaid documentation and audits
  • Background in trauma\-informed care and behavioral interventions
  • Experience supporting foster parent programs or recruitment
