Department Summary:
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities Manager in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish workplace procedures/policies
- Recommend and implement preventative measures to ensure continuous, uninterrupted service
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT, and Health, Fire \& Life Safety, working with internal Safety Teams
- Direct activities of workers engaged in 24x7 operation and maintenance of facilities
- Ensure certification of staff in all responsible areas
- Schedule and conduct frequent inspections of facilities, grounds and equipment to determine the need and extent of service, repair and equipment required and to ensure employee safety
- Inspect and ensure maintenance of security fence perimeter, entry gates and surveillance systems, snow removal, lawn maintenance, pest control, etc
- Maintain accurate PMI documentation and works closely with Security
- Ensure overall maintenance of the site’s appearance to meet company standards
- Plan and manage department budget
- Recommend infrastructure improvements to maximize efficiency and cost\-effectiveness of site operations
- Purchase building and maintenance supplies, machinery, equipment and furniture
- Direct, monitor and control contracted projects to ensure adherence to specifications and ensure deadlines are met, this may include the preparation of construction specifications or plans, obtain advice from engineering personnel, assembling and analyzing contract bids,submitting bids and recommendations to the management team
- Manage outside vendor contracts including janitorial and special cleaning requirements (building facades, antennas, data centers and on\-air areas), annual maintenance agreements, fueling, painting, general
- Represent the site at internal and external meetings and communicate information to management
- Manage multiple locations
- Hire, train and supervise department personnel
- Compile and or review records of labor and material cost for operating building and specifications or plans
- 15 years of experience in building maintenance to include: HVAC, Electrical, Fire Suppression, detection systems, Generators, UPS’s as well as general maintenance and construction
- 10 years of experience managing a large\-scale, diverse office, mission\-critical and manufacturing facilities
- Prior experience reading and interpreting blueprints and detailed schematics as well as operational procedures
- Climb ladders to heights of up to 20 feet
- Work with hands and arms above their head for an extended period of time
- Carry equipment up to 50 pounds
- Be able to work repetitive tasks like installing/deinstalling equipment
- Work in a 24x7x365 work environment
- Master Electrical or Master HVAC/R license
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Write routine reports and correspondence, SOP's (Electrical/Maintenance Systems)
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Able to interact effectively with team members and provide guidance as needed. Must have ability to read and interpret written instructions, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Have basic computer experience in databases, word processing, and spreadsheet applications

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
