Your Role in Our Mission
As a Benefits Assistant, you will provide administrative and customer service support to ESPH employees and the Benefits team, ensuring accurate benefits administration, timely communication, and a positive employee experience. This role plays a key part in supporting new hires, benefit changes, terminations, and annual Open Enrollment activities while maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality.

This benefits\-eligible, full\-time position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Compensation \& Benefits
- Competitive Pay: $17 \- $20 based on experience for this full\-time position

- Support new and newly eligible employees by explaining benefit offerings and assisting with enrollment in UKG, including Life Events
- Monitor onboarding and benefits elections within the HRIS, sending reminders regarding deadlines and required documentation
- Perform benefit audits to ensure accurate deductions, effective dates, and data integrity between HRIS modules and vendors
- Review vendor invoices for new hires, newly eligible employees, terminations, and benefit changes; prepare check requests for manager approval
- Prepare benefit termination packets and audit benefit shutoff accuracy
- Monitor Benefits email, fax, and voicemail accounts and respond to general employee inquiries; escalate complex issues as appropriate
- Assist with claim and enrollment issue resolution through communication with vendors and brokers
- Maintain accurate, confidential digital benefits files and documentation
- Assist with annual Open Enrollment activities, including employee support, audits, and payroll deduction reviews
- Cross\-train to provide administrative support for Leave of Absence processes as needed
- Follow all Easterseals PORT Health policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field preferred
- 1–2 years of administrative experience required; Human Resources or customer service experience preferred
- Basic understanding of employee benefits or strong interest in learning benefits administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
- Experience with HRIS systems preferred; UKG experience a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license, current insurance, and reliable transportation
