Position Summary

Service Navigator (Listos) will play a vital role in enhancing resilience in Sonoma County through providing essential disaster preparedness community outreach, education, and community engagement across Sonoma County. Working within the framework of the Listos California Disaster Preparedness initiative, the Service Navigator will serve Sonoma County’s most vulnerable populations, including immigrants, farmworkers, seniors, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those with limited English proficiency. This role includes direct community engagement, volunteer coordination, training, and capacity\-building activities to foster resilience. This position is grant funded through 12/31/2025\.

Essential Functions

1\. Deliver Listos disaster preparedness training sessions monthly to a minimum of 500 community members.

2\. Develop and manage a twelve \-month preparedness training calendar, with themed sessions aligned to Listos priorities.

3\. Host one\-on\-one preparedness education sessions and distribute “Go Bags” equipped with essential emergency supplies.

4\. Plan and execute four pop\-up events in targeted neighborhoods and table at four community events for outreach, community input, and resource distribution. Are these monthly requirements?

5\. Coordinate and lead quarterly partner meetings to train local organizations on disaster preparedness, employing a train\-the\-trainer model to expand outreach through partner organizations.

6\. Recruit and train volunteers to assist with outreach and training events.

7\. Work closely with community\-based organizations (CBOs) to identify gaps in preparedness and collaborate on solutions to increase resilience within high\-risk communities.

8\. Utilize Listos materials (in English and Spanish) to deliver tailored preparedness information, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.

9\. Gather community input at each event to tailor future training content to specific needs and challenges within vulnerable populations.

10\. Maintain detailed records in the agency’s Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database, tracking client engagement, training attendance, and community feedback.

11\. Travel regularly throughout Sonoma County, including remote and rural areas, to ensure broad outreach, with travel expenses covered per grant budget guidelines.

Other Responsibilities

1\. May assist in food preparation for client meals.

2\. Work with Diocese of Santa Rosa and local parishes as appropriate and requested.

3\. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

1\. High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE),,one year of experience working in service navigation, related work experience determining program eligibility and making referrals to appropriate programs, or in a service\-service related field required; associate or bachelor’s degree in social service\-related field, experience social services, public health, emergency management, or community outreach, preferred.

2\. Familiarity with disaster preparedness education or similar outreach programs.

3\. Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially in a bilingual or multicultural setting.

4\. Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred or demonstrated cultural competence in serving Spanish\-speaking communities.

5\. Computer literacy required including experience with Microsoft 365 Suite. and comfort using mobile and web\-based data entry systems.

6\. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups and build rapport with community members.

7\. Effective organizational and planning skills for scheduling and executing events.

8\. Strong written and verbal communication; organization, conflict resolution and problem\-solving skills.

9\. Ability to work under pressure with a positive, solution\-oriented approach.

10\. Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of Catholic Charities and its clients.

11\. Valid driver license and at least state required minimum of automobile insurance, clear DMV driving record and ability to provide own transportation. Must be willing and able to travel between agency sites.

12\. Must pass DOJ background clearance (fingerprinting) in accordance with the Diocese of Santa Rosa’s policies prior to start of employment.
