The Indiana University (IU) Indy Study Abroad Office supports study abroad programs and students across IU Indy, IU Columbus, and IU Fort Wayne. We serve as the information hub on program options, study abroad scholarships, best practices, and program administration for students, faculty, and staff. The office engages in a variety of activities to encourage more students to study abroad and work to improve the infrastructure for study abroad programming.
Job Summary
The goal of this role is to support the outreach and administrative needs of the Study Abroad Office at IU Indianapolis. The Outreach Assistant will be a representative of the Study Abroad Office at in\-person and virtual events to increase the visibility of study abroad on campus and to encourage study abroad participation.
Department\-Specific Responsibilities
- Present to classes and student groups about study abroad.
- Represent the Office of International Affairs during orientation resource fairs.
- Staff information tables, sessions, and other promotional events.
- Assist with event planning for outreach events.
- Assist in the development of new marketing materials.
- Perform general administrative office tasks such as responding to email inquiries, answering the phone, processing student forms, data entry, and filing.
- Review and process student application and pre\-departure forms.
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
- International or study abroad experience.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently; strong self\-motivation.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in professional environments.
- Confidence in presenting accurate study abroad information in person and virtually to groups of various sizes.
- Ability to inspire enthusiasm for study abroad.
- Strong organizational skills to manage scheduling and event participation.
- Attention to detail to accurately process student forms.

Targeted start date is May 2026\.
Advertised Salary
$18\.00 per hour.
Work Hours
20 hours per week on average.
Hours are typically scheduled during standard business hours, Monday \- Friday, 8:00AM \- 5:00PM.
The exact schedule will be determined in coordination with the supervisor based on organizational needs.
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support outreach events and promotional activities. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible.
