Job Purpose
Under minimal supervision, perform and manage payroll related functions and administrative duties for Ring Container Technologies, LLC and Rapac, LP. The payroll office of Ring Container Technologies centrally processes salaried and hourly payrolls for around 1000 domestic employees at 20 plant locations and headquarters. We have employees in multiple states with multiple city, county, and school district taxing jurisdictions. The payroll manager position is the liaison between our payroll tax reporting and wage attachment third party provider, OneSource Virtual (OSV), and Ring companies. This position is expected to independently handle all payroll processes, accounting general ledger posting and analysis, testing and implementation of functionality enhancements or changes within the payroll system and work as part of the Employee Services/Payroll team on a daily basis. This position will also be responsible for 401K audit, workers comp audit, annual census surveys, and other accounting functions.Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manages Workday payroll as payroll administrator. Responsible for setting up new earning and deduction codes, testing functionality, and making recommendations on changes. Maintains close relationship with Employee Services team as co\-owner of the Workday system.
- Responsible for bi\-weekly hourly payroll, semi\-monthly salaried payroll, on demand payment processing from beginning to end of the cycle. Expected to use analytical skills to compare and review audit and exception reports intended to ensure accuracy of the individual employee pay for the period. This position is expected to work closely with our office managers who are responsible for time and attendance at each US manufacturing facility and several local managers at corporate headquarters.
- Upon completion of the payroll calculation cycle, creates and transmits multiple integration files to our outside vendors for 401k, FSA, and ACH payments. Also, creates the cash reconciliation file to settle with OSV for payment of taxes and garnishments. This position will work closely with other Accounting staff regarding the outside funding, positive pay files for any paper checks and void payments.
- Independently oversee and manage work orders with our third party provider for incoming garnishments and tax notifications. Expected to research tax discrepancy notices to determine where the issue is and resolve. Also meeting all deadlines with quarterly and annual payroll reporting with 3rd party provider.
- Validation that new employees are properly set\-up in Workday regarding pay group, tax elections, and payment elections and any other aspects that affect accurate pay.
- Reconciliation of quarterly and annual payroll taxes and W\-2s between Workday tax reports and payroll registers.
- Manage incoming calls, emails or paper mail, which include responding to standard and complex inquiries and use judgment and knowledge to resolve. This would include completing incoming information requests related to wage verifications for Workers Compensation claims, disability claims, mortgage loans, state unemployment data and any other payroll information inquiries.
- Responsible for workers compensation reporting and filings where states administer the workers compensation insurance program rather than our insurance agency.
- Excellent accounting skills to reconcile payroll general ledger balance sheet accounts Ring companies (including Canada and UK for posting entries only). Analyzes and prepares cash general ledger reconciliations.
- Administrator of the corporate credit card accounts, by opening and closing card accounts when necessary, training new cardholders in use of the credit card reporting system, auditing all cardholder expense reports and importing transactional data into ERP system.
- Serve as the 401k audit and workers comp audit liaison between external auditors and internal to ensure these are re completed timely.
- Assist with monthly closing process related to payroll and benefits.
- Assist in annual audits by the CPA firms.
- Performs other administrative, financial and clerical duties as necessary to support the payroll and finance activities of Ring Companies.
- Continually look for opportunities for improvement, in our processes or workflows, utilizing current system functionality, upcoming future enhancements or possible advanced technology that would be new to Ring. Ability to identify gaps in training of our internal customers and resolve using available resources.
- Minimum education of bachelor degree preferably in a finance related field. 7\+ years’ experience in payroll system accounting.
- Strong MS Excell skills
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is preferred.
- Experience on Workday HCM/PR System is preferred.
