Entry‑Level Windows Server Engineer
Location \- On\-site in Sandy, UT
Job Summary
The Entry‑Level Windows Server Engineer, Level 1 Windows Administrator is an entry‑level role responsible for supporting Conduent’s Windows\-based server infrastructure within a Global Command Center (GCC) environment. This position focuses on monitoring, incident response, basic troubleshooting, and operational support for virtual and physical Windows servers. The position also supports GCC functions such as hotline coverage, ticket creation, and escalation of major incidents.
This role is ideal for candidates early in their IT careers who have foundational Windows Server and VMware knowledge and are looking to grow their skills in enterprise infrastructure operations. The position operates on an assigned 8‑hour day shift, including Saturday and Sunday, and does not require overtime.
Shift \& Schedule
- Assigned 8‑hour day shift
- Schedule includes Saturday and/or Sunday
- Perform routine monitoring of Windows servers, including CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization
- Respond to automated and manual alerts and document findings in the ticketing system
- Assist with basic remediation activities such as clearing temporary files and managing disk usage
- Monitor and help reduce C:\\ drive usage and track non\-root disk utilization
- Escalate issues related to server outages, sustained performance degradation, or packet loss
- Log off disconnected users to help reduce server load
- Support virtual machine migrations between hosts under guidance from senior staff
- Participate in Major Incident bridges and follow established escalation procedures
- Assist Level 2 technicians with basic diagnostics and server health checks
- Verify VMware Tools status and report discrepancies
- Use Microsoft operating system tools to assist with troubleshooting and data collection
- Troubleshoot basic OS and networking issues (e.g., resource utilization, vNIC checks, proxy settings)
- Reboot or power cycle servers using RDP or VMware tools following approved procedures
- Provide basic operational reports upon Business Unit request (non\-audit)
- Support GCC operations, including hotline coverage, issue intake, and monitoring coverage
- Familiarity with VMware or virtualized environments
- Basic understanding of Windows Server concepts and VM management best practices
- Ability to perform basic OS\-level troubleshooting (disk space, CPU/memory utilization, basic networking)
- Willingness to learn and follow established operational processes
- Experience or exposure to IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Basic familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
- Strong written documentation and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team\-oriented, operational environment
- Organized, reliable, and capable of following instructions independently
- Comfortable working in a cross\-matrix enterprise organization
- Must be able to pass a drug test and federal background check
- Academic coursework, labs, or certifications related to Windows Server or virtualization
- Basic understanding of Active Directory concepts
- Exposure to endpoint protection or security tools
- Pursuit of Windows Server or virtualization certifications

For this position, actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition to base pay, this position, based on business need, may be eligible for a bonus or incentive. In addition, Conduent provides a variety of benefits to employees including health insurance coverage, voluntary dental and vision programs, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) or vacation and/or sick time. The estimated salary range for this role is $51K \- $57K annually.
