Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Front Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience from check\-in to check\-out
- Manage multi\-line phone systems, answer inquiries, and direct calls appropriately with professional phone etiquette
- Schedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification to facilitate smooth billing processes
- Collect and review patient documentation, including intake forms, medical history, and consent forms
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper filing of patient charts in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as data entry, appointment reminders, and processing payments
- Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, including clinic experience or dental clinic experience preferred
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD\-9/ICD\-10 coding, and medical billing procedures
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health information management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi\-line phone systems and demonstrate proper phone etiquette
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Ability to perform clerical tasks such as filing, typing (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized records
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Office management skills including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and documentation review
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical administrative support is advantageous
