About the Role:
The Medical Assistant\-Blue Ridge plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, assisting with clinical procedures, and managing patient records to facilitate efficient and effective care delivery. The Medical Assistant\-BR is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with minor medical procedures, thereby contributing to accurate diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, this role requires coordination with healthcare teams to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and promote a positive patient experience. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant\-BR helps bridge the gap between patients and providers, enhancing overall healthcare outcomes through diligent support and compassionate care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not mandatory.
- CPR certification
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- One year experience working in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Athena.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish and English, to support a broader patient base.
- Greet and prepare patients for examinations, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and minor procedures by handling instruments and supplies.
- Collect specimens, give injections, and draw blood.
- Manage patient documentation, including updating electronic health records (EHR) accurately and promptly.
- Schedule patient appointments, coordinate referrals, and communicate effectively with patients regarding their care plans.
- Answer emails, voicemails, assist in prescription refills, test results and physician messages.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
