Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and check them in efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Dentrix.
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring optimal patient flow.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits through insurance portals such as Athenahealth or Meditech, including Medicare and Medicaid processing.
- Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and handing necessary tools.
- Manage patient records with meticulous attention to detail—review documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle medical billing processes including CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD\-10/ICD\-9 coding for diagnoses, and ensure timely submission of claims.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering multi\-line phone systems professionally, scheduling follow\-up visits, and addressing patient inquiries with clarity and empathy.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records and dental charts using software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring confidentiality of health information.
- Support office administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10\-key typing), and managing medical administrative support functions to keep the clinic operating seamlessly.
- Proven experience working in a dental or medical office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix; experience with Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of medical billing processes including insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD\-10/ICD\-9\), and Medicare requirements.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record keeping.
- Exceptional customer service abilities paired with professional phone etiquette and effective communication skills.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast\-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Bilingual skills are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and office management practices is highly valued.
