Job Summary
We are seeking a detail\-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic team. We are a small home \-based real estate development and construction company. We have operations in Maryland and North Carolina. This role combines essential bookkeeping responsibilities with administrative support, ensuring the smooth financial operations and organizational efficiency of our organization. The ideal candidate will be energized by managing financial records, supporting accounting processes, and assisting with daily administrative tasks. The hours are flexable and some of the work can de done from your home.
Responsibilities
- Manage day\-to\-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up\-to\-date
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to maintain precise financial records in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Prepare and process journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions with attention to detail and timeliness
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to verify the accuracy of financial statements
- Assist in governmental and non\-profit accounting tasks, including grant tracking, fund accounting, and compliance reporting
- Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and assisting in financial report writing for internal review or external audits
- Handle administrative duties such as managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, maintaining filing systems, and supporting overall office organization
- Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks; experience with GAAP standards is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of double\-entry bookkeeping principles, debits \& credits, journal entries, and general ledger accounting
- Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, and payroll processing
- Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and non\-profit accounting requirements
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation accurately
- Familiarity with financial concepts such as budgeting, financial report writing, and tax preparation support
- Excellent organizational skills including 10 key typing proficiency; ability to multitask efficiently in a fast\-paced environment
- Ability to set up and operate in a virtual office and manage files.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and external auditors or vendors
