Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring a seamless patient experience from check\-in to treatment. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail\-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional patient service while maintaining efficient office operations. You will play a vital role in managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and supporting clinical procedures to promote optimal oral health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional first impression.
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflow.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third\-party payers, ensuring accurate billing and coding using CPT, ICD\-9, ICD\-10 codes, and dental terminology.
- Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and providing chairside support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and EHR systems like Meditech or eClinicalWorks.
- Handle patient inquiries via multi\-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; schedule appointments and follow up as needed.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, data entry, billing, collections, and managing medical records while ensuring confidentiality of health information management.
- Verify insurance benefits, process claims efficiently through systems like Athenahealth or Dentrix, and facilitate medical billing processes including ICD coding accuracy.
- Support clinic operations by managing front desk responsibilities such as patient intake, medical scheduling, and office management tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations including HIPAA standards for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is required; familiarity with dental terminology and medical terminology is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Eaglesoft is highly preferred.
- Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD\-9/10\), insurance verification, billing procedures, and documentation review is necessary for success in this role.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) along with knowledge of health information management systems are important assets.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clerical experience in a healthcare setting will help you thrive in this role.
- Previous hospital or dental clinic experience involving medical office management or front desk responsibilities will be highly valued.
