DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Provide customer service to citizens in the area of Code Compliance as a City Ambassador. Performs highly responsible duties involving technical, administrative, record keeping and inspections. Performs a variety of routine clerical, administrative, and field customer service duties that include, but are not limited to answering routine complaints and providing general information about the City and the City Codes. Requires knowledge of Mascotte Codes.
SELECTION FACTORS:
Work Experience: Minimum two years of experience in a customer service environment, one year of experience in sub\-professional administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, ability, and skills.
Education/Certifications: Must have certification by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement and/or the ability to obtain certification within a year of employment; High School diploma or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma; and possession of a current valid Florida Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City.
Nature of Work: This is skilled and responsible work assisting the Police Chief in enforcing the City Codes. Works outside in various weather conditions with slippery and uneven surfaces. Some work may take place on or around construction sites, condemned property or property needing condemned or in poor condition. The position may serve as the city representative at the EOC, attend meetings, training and staff the EOC when applicable. This position answers directly to the Police Lieutenant, or their designee.
Additional: Background checks required. Any and all other duties that could be reasonably associated to the core purpose of Public Safety and Code Compliance related services.
Work Requirements: Work in this classification is performed indoors at a desk/workstation requiring extended periods of sitting and operating a computer, some bending and stretching may on occasion require very limited (less than 20 pounds) physical lifting, pushing and pulling to perform essential job functions. Work also includes driving, bending, stooping, climbing, crawling and other related to inspection services. Employee is required to work overtime, weekends, events, meetings, projects, and emergencies as needed.

Essential Job Functions:
· Knowledge of the Code of Ordinances of the City and the Land Development Codes.
· Knowledge of related City processes and procedures.
· Knowledge of the geography of the City, proximate incorporated areas and the City’s road network.
· Knowledge of office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, and commercial arithmetic.
· Ability to operate calculator, computer, word processor and other equipment and software needed to perform applicable duties.
· Ability to enforce ordinances with firmness, tact, and impartiality and to deal courteously with the general public.
· Ability to keep detailed and accurate records and make reports from such records.
· Ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of accuracy.
· Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the general public.
· Ability to calm and handle administrative matters and to seek assistance from others as needed.
· Maintain records and information as assigned.
· Prepare reports, work orders and documents as required.
· Attend work on a continuous and regular basis.
· Present Code Compliance Violations to Special Magistrate (serves as the city prosecutor).
· Manages the city Rental Housing Program, registering landlords, completing all minimal housing inspections for new rentals.
· Oversee contract with vendor who administers home foreclosure registration program.
· Oversee and implement the landlord registration of rental properties and inspections.
· May serve as one of the city representatives to the Lake County Emergency Operations Center during declared emergencies.
· Performs other related functions as assigned.

Pay: $18\.00 \- $20\.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
