Job Description
The Bioengineering Program is seeking a part\-time temporary Administrative Assistant to support the program's continued growth and transition toward becoming a formal academic department. This role will provide essential administrative and clerical support that enables program leadership to focus on strategic priorities including departmental planning, budgeting, and faculty hiring.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail\-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast\-paced academic environment. This position is expected to work approximately 10 hours per week and may work remotely during the summer, with a hybrid schedule preferred. The anticipated start date is early to mid\-July.
This is a temporary position limited to a maximum of 900 hours per year.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the Bioengineering program email account and serve as an initial point of contact for students and external inquiries.
- Support program communications through social media engagement, webpage updates, promotional content creation, and proofreading of materials.
- Create and share digital content, including short videos, photos, flyers, and promotional materials that highlight the Bioengineering program and campus life.
- Maintain calendars, coordinate meetings, schedule room reservations, and support faculty and student administrative needs.
- Organize digital files, shared drives, survey responses, and related administrative records.
- Assist with planning and coordination of seminars, BMES activities, receptions, and other program events, including logistics, attendance tracking, promotional items, and event materials.
- Recommend improvements to communication processes, organization systems, and administrative workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage interruptions and quickly return to tasks.
- Experience with social media platforms and digital communications.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools, including Google Calendar, Google Forms, and shared drives.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while following established procedures.
- Prior administrative or office support experience preferred.
- Experience in a university or academic environment is beneficial but not required.
- Approximately 10 hours per week.
- Remote work may be available during the summer; hybrid work arrangement preferred.
- Anticipated start date: early to mid\-July.
- Temporary position with a maximum of 900 hours annually.
