The RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) is hiring a Materials Handling Specialist to support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations in East Hartford, CT. This role encompasses both physical and system\-based management of materials, ensuring timely and compliant processing of inbound and outbound shipments. The ideal candidate prioritizes safety, adheres to processes, and works independently while supporting factory operations.
What you will Do
- Receive and verify incoming materials, components, and hardware, ensuring accuracy of quantities, part numbers, certifications, and documentation (e.g., packing slips, Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), test reports).
- Inspect incoming goods for damage, discrepancies, and compliance with aerospace quality requirements.
- Process goods receipts, inventory movements, and shipment transactions in SAP systems.
- Prepare, package, and document outbound shipments in adherence to aerospace, company, and regulatory standards (ITAR/EAR, DOT, export compliance).
- Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and freight schedules with carriers and logistics providers.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through real\-time system updates, cycle counts, investigations, and reconciliations.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and traceability of aerospace materials.
- Support production by staging materials, issuing components, and promptly responding to material requests.
- Safely operate forklifts and material\-handling equipment while adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain an organized warehouse environment, implementing 5S and continuous improvement practices.
- High school diploma or AA/AS degree, with additional training in logistics or materials management preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.
- Proficiency in SAP for processing goods receipts, inventory movements, and shipping transactions.
- Experience with inventory control, including cycle counts, reconciliation, and root\-cause analysis.
- Knowledge of aerospace documentation requirements, material traceability, and domestic/international shipping standards.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Eligibility to apply for and obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Forklift certification.
- Previous stockroom experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer/data entry skills.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or similar aerospace quality standards.
- Knowledge of lean practices, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working as a DoD government contractor, with ITAR compliance knowledge.
- Experience in maintaining equipment and records.
- Strong problem\-solving skills, customer focus, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Basic math proficiency for accurate counting and transactions.

The salary range for this role is 43,400 USD \- 82,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
