    COUNTY OF EL DORADO EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS)

    The mission of the County of El Dorado EMS Agency is to ensure high\-quality pre\-hospital care for residents and visitors through oversight, planning, implementation, and continuous monitoring of the emergency medical services system. THE OPPORTUNITY

    This is a single position supervisory\-level classification responsible for supervising the work of a group of subordinate staff supporting EMS programs. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily administrative and technical activities, ensuring that EMS providers in the county conform with federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards related to the delivery of pre\-hospital emergency medical care; and overseeing and assisting in developing policies, procedures, and medical protocols. *The selected candidate will have the opportunity to: Plan, organize, coordinate, assign, and supervise employees, operations, and activities related to EMS programs.

  • Assist the EMS Manager in the overall coordination of the EMS programs including program planning and preparation of various reports/plans to the state.
  • Oversee the evaluation of new paramedics and nurses working in emergency settings based on established criteria;

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    The El Dorado County Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMS Agency) is seeking a proven leader with strong clinical, operational and supervisory skills. A thorough understanding of California EMS laws and regulations, along with a commitment to patient care and continuous quality improvement, is highly desirable.

    Under the direction of EMS Agency Medical Director, the candidate will actively contribute to the development and refinement of policies, procedures and clinical protocols that guide pre\-hospital care. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, shows sound judgment, and works effectively within a team environment. They possess strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and can work productively with stakeholders and partners from various backgrounds. Experience working in a fire\-based EMS system is desirable.

    Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations:

    Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying; however, education may not solely substitute for the required experience.

    Sixty (60\) college semester units or ninety (90\) quarter units from an accredited college or university;

    AND

    Two (2\) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse, or Paramedic in an emergency services/9\-1\-1 setting; and at least one (1\) year of related lead experience.

    Experience performing program planning, development and evaluation in a private or public health agency. Fire\-based EMS, private ambulance service or hospital experience is desirable.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    Possession of a valid California license as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic.

    Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California or Nevada Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record

    The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Preparedness Supervisor. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full\-time, part\-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for at least three (3\) months. In accordance with Personnel Rules 1103\.1 and 1105\.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
