Reporting to the University Controller, the Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager is responsible for leadership and daily oversight of the Financial Reporting team – whose functions include general accounting \& reconciliation, transaction audit \& compliance, fixed asset accounting, and vendor maintenance. This position will be responsible for a significant share of the compliance\-based reporting for the University relating to federal, state, and municipal tax requirements and other external data submissions. Under the Controller’s guidance, this position will provide critical support in preparation of the annual financial statements and external audit.
This role will serve as key subject matter expert in research and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and for establishing accounting policies and procedures in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and state administrative requirements.
The Financial Reporting and Compliance Manager will also work in close collaboration with the Financial Service Center Manager and the Assistant Controller as a member of the University Financial Services leadership team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting or related field. Provide transcript or diploma showing graduation and degree awarded.
- At least five years progressively responsible professional experience with particular emphasis in accounting and/or finance.
- At least five years of full range supervisory experience including direct supervision, hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Ability to work collaboratively under deadline pressure while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Extensive computer skills including interpretation of data and compilation of reports and data processing in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to research, analyze and apply laws, rules, regulations, GASB, and GAAP using analytical techniques.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a cross functional/professional team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service with a strong focus on customer support.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or related field and/or CPA licensure.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience with Banner ERP and fund accounting.

Total Compensation \& Benefits:
The starting annual salary for this position is expected to be between $74,232 and $98,364, dependent on education, knowledge, skills and experience. This may be somewhat negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
