THIS IS A DEPARTMENTAL PROMOTIONAL POSTING OPPORTUNITY. ONLY CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF HAMILTON COUNTY RECYCLING DEPARTMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Under general supervision, coordinates the county\-wide recycling program including creating awareness of recycling and providing organizations and individuals recycling opportunities. Performs the managerial, supervisory and administrative functions of the Household Recycling Centers, Tire Recovery Center, and Project ReTreeve recycling programs. Tasks
Provides for the supervision of the recycling staff including setting priorities and reviewing staff work for timeliness, completeness, and detail; assesses performance; sets schedules and provides related administrative approvals such as leave requests and time sheets.
Maintains the county recycling programs and solid waste plan; maintains reports, statistics, develops awareness, ongoing training and safety programs, and other promotional activities for schools and other agencies.
Oversees the maintenance of recycling and recovery centers, personal protective equipment, tools, heavy duty equipment, and vehicles. Coordinates the collection of recycled waste from recycling centers and County facilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations, Hamilton County policies and procedures.
Knowledge of recycling opportunities, and collection methods.
Knowledge of the fundamental principles of supervision, recycling budget and County budget and accounting system.
Skill in reading, interpreting, understanding and applying federal and state environmental rules and regulations, Hamilton County Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
Skill in planning, organizing, developing and leading recycling staff to the achievement of section goals and priorities and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with the public, department staff, other County departments and contractors.
Minimum Qualifications
The equivalent of a high school diploma and four (4\) years of work experience in recycling, one (1\) year of which must be in a lead or supervisory capacity. A valid driver’s license is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires moderate physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, walking and driving. Regular visits to recycling centers are required and may involve occasional lifting of up to fifty (50\) pounds. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prior to operating a County\-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Hamilton County Government Retirement for Fulltime Employees:
Pension – Legacy Plan (hired prior to 10/1/2015\), in which the employer contributes 14\.70%.
Pension – Hybrid Plan (hired on or after 10/1/2015\), in which the employee contributes 5% and the employer contributes 4%.
401K – Employer contributes 5% and the employee can contribute the amount of their choice.
457b – Employees have the option to contribute to this plan if they choose.
