Position Title: Office Assistant \- Administrative Office
Department: Charleston Fire Department
Location: CFD Training Center, 115 Lee St. West
Number of open positions: 1 Anticipated Start Date: 6/8/26 End Date: 7/31/26
Hours of work per week: Up to 35 hours per week
Business/Work Hours: 8:00am \- 4:00pm Monday \- Friday
Pay Rate: $13 / Hour
General Description:
The purpose of this class within the organization is to implement a variety of community, recreational, cultural, special events, and other programs at City of Charleston designated facilities. This position is part of the Mayor's Summer Youth Jobs Program for individuals aged 16\-20 years old. Employment dates are June 8, 2026, through July 31, 2026, with potential extensions based on availability and departmental needs. This position works under close supervision and performs duties according to established procedures.
Responsibilities, tasks, and projects:
Perform administrative work including, but not limited to preparing letters and other correspondence, process and distribute mail, and maintain files and records.
Perform data entry, retrieves data, and produce various reports, communication with other departments.
Answer phones, greet and assist guests, and the general public.
Requires knowledge in the use of a personal computer and in the application of Microsoft Office Products such as Microsoft Word and Excel
Must work closely with Senior Administrative Assistant
Candidate requirements:
- Must be between age 16\-20 years old.
- Business Casual (Must be work\-appropriate) no shorts, or flip\-flops.
