Early Care and Education (ECE) operates an award\-winning, accredited, nationally recognized program that is highly effective in supporting the recruitment and retention of faculty, students and staff who are key to the mission of the University. Salary \& Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

• 1\-3 years In the field of early childhood education (Preferred)
• Ability to speak English to be understood by young children, staff and parents and as required for food preparation (Required)
• Ability to read English text of children's stories (Required)
• Ability to use kitchen utensils and appliances safely and appropriately for preparation of meals (Preferred)
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding set\-up and supervision of activities and preparation of food (Required)
• Ability to relate to children ages two months to six years old as required for supervision of indoor and outdoor activities, toileting, meals, snacks and nap time (Required)
• Ability to act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations to prevent accidents and to provide first aid in emergency situations (Required)
• Ability to direct classroom staff in overall program in the absence of Lead and Assistant Lead teachers (Required)
• Ability to work cooperatively with other staff in total child care program (Required)
• Skill in resolving conflict with children and adults (Required)
• Physical ability to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds when necessary (frequent lifting) (Required)
• Certified in pediatric CPR and first aid (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications \& Personal Affiliations

• Associate's Degree Child Development (Preferred)
• 12 ECE units (Required)
• Knowledge of child development theory and best practices in early childhood group care and education (Required)
• CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing \- Associate Teacher\-level teaching (or higher) permit (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

• Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
• Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
• Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
• Pre\-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
• TB Test: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory TB test.
• Tdap Pertussis Vaccine: The position is subject to providing evidence of inoculation within 10 years.
• CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
