Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing outstanding customer service while managing check\-in and check\-out procedures
- Verify insurance coverage through insurance verification processes, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements
- Schedule patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect and process payments, perform medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and professionalism
- Maintain and update patient records in EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans, medical coding (ICD\-10, CPT), and billing documentation
- Manage multi\-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and responding to patient inquiries promptly
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic environment with strong front desk responsibilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD\-9/ICD\-10\), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and appointment scheduling simultaneously
- Ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings is a plus; fluency in additional languages enhances patient service capabilities
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of health information at all times
- Previous experience with medical terminology or medical office management is advantageous for medical clinic settings
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor
