The Work You Will Do:

This is a professional position under the direct supervision of the Board Executive Director. This position supports the Division of Real Estate (DRE), the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board (FREAB), the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC), the Florida Real Estate Education Section, the Department, and the Public. The work assigned to this position requires the ability to handle a variety of highly responsible functions independently adhering to Florida Statutes and Administrative Code, the guidelines provided, and in accordance with Division and Department policies and procedures. The incumbent in this position performs the following work and other related activities.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate FREAB and FREC Education applications for compliance with Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and Appraisal Qualification Board’s The Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria.
  • Prepare Education agendas for the FREAB and FREC. Review the Education Final Orders for accuracy. Prepare Final Orders for the Board Executive Director for review and signature and send signed Final Orders promptly to the Agency Clerk for filing. Ensure Final Order compliance, maintain and update compliance records relating to Education action.
  • Support the Board Executive Director and Education Section in preparation for the FREC monthly meetings. Attend the FREAB and FREC Probable Cause and General meetings.
  • Prepare and monitor audio and video technology during the FREC and probable cause meetings.
  • Maintain and update compliance records relating to disciplinary actions, including monitoring accounts receivable, education requirements and other disciplinary actions taken. Update final agency actions for posting to DRE web page when needed.
  • Assist the Regulatory Consultant relating to public records requests. Review files and redacts any confidential materials in accordance with statutory requirement.
  • Analyze and interpret written and telephonic correspondence to formulate an appropriate response. Assist department staff and consumers with matters relating to Florida Real Estate Commission and/or Education.
  • Assist the Board Executive Director and the Education section with special projects and other duties as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to review and evaluate real estate education applications for compliance.
  • Requires a basic operational knowledge of Microsoft word processing, email, and database applications.
  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to handle difficult individuals over the phone and deal effectively with people.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to work in concert with peers, plan, organize and coordinates work assignments.
  • Ability to research information to arrive at an appropriate and effective conclusion.
  • Minimum Requirements:

    The Regulatory Specialist II should possess the following:

  • Professional or nonprofessional experience in administrative work and/or professional regulation or related field.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience with data and document management systems.
  • Demonstration of an ability to work in a very sensitive and confidential environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Experience with Word, Excel \& Outlook).

Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate one or more of the following: an interest in public service, research and report writing.
