Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail\-oriented Legal Assistant to join a boutique law firm led by two experienced trial attorneys. Our practice is focused primarily on state and federal criminal defense, with one attorney also handling select personal injury matters. This is a hands\-on position in a fast\-paced litigation environment where precision, discretion, and strong organizational skills are essential.
This paid role offers a meaningful opportunity to gain real\-world exposure to courtroom practice, client advocacy, and case strategy. No prior legal experience is required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic. Bilingual ability in Spanish is a significant advantage, but not required.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative and case support to two attorneys, including calendar management, court scheduling, and coordination of hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
Assist with preparation and filing of pleadings, motions, discovery materials, subpoenas, and other court documents in both state and federal courts.
Draft, proofread, and format legal correspondence and basic legal documents with clarity and accuracy.
Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files, ensuring deadlines are tracked and all materials are properly documented.
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
Support trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing binders, coordinating witnesses, and assisting with logistics.
Assist with client intake, gathering records, and organizing medical documentation in personal injury matters.
Perform general office and clerical tasks necessary to ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications
No prior legal experience required; training will be provided.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast\-paced litigation environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and basic office technology; willingness to learn case management systems.
Bilingual Spanish proficiency is a strong plus but not mandatory.
