Overview
I have partnered with an employment and personal injury law firm who is ready to hire their first legal assistant. They are seeking a proactive and detail\-oriented Legal Assistant to join their legal team. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to support a wide range of legal functions across employment and personal injury law. The ideal candidate will demonstrate organizational and legal research skills, and a passion for delivering top\-tier administrative support. The owners are willing and open to training and providing guidance to the candidate with previous experience who is looking to grow within the team and as a legal assistant. This position provides valuable experience in legal case management, document review, and client interaction while contributing to the efficient operation of our legal services. This is not a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
- Manage legal documents by ensuring accurate filing, organization, and retrieval.
- Draft and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, correspondence, and reports with precision and clarity.
- Conduct thorough document review to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support project management tasks by coordinating deadlines, scheduling meetings, and maintaining case calendars.
- Perform data entry and maintain meticulous records of client information, case updates, and legal filings.
- Provide executive administrative support by managing phone etiquette, organizing files, handling clerical tasks, and supporting overall office operations.
- Assist with client interviews and gather necessary information to facilitate case development.
- Proven paralegal or legal administrative experience in a busy law office environment.
- Knowledgeable of legal practice areas including personal injury and employment law.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities.
- Strong interviewing skills to gather relevant case information from clients or witnesses.
- Experience with litigation support activities including document review and case management.
- Knowledge of contract drafting and review processes; experience with data entry and clerical tasks is essential.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive information with professionalism.
- Effective communication skills coupled with courteous phone etiquette to interact confidently with clients and team members.
