Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail\-oriented Insurance Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare administrative team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and optimizing revenue cycle operations. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth financial transactions between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients, ultimately contributing to the efficient delivery of quality care. Responsibilities Review and verify medical records, documentation, and coding details to ensure accuracy for billing purposes. Assign appropriate codes such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD\-9, ICD\-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and DRG (Diagnosis\-Related Group) to each claim. Prepare and submit clean claims electronically or via paper to insurance carriers, following all regulatory guidelines. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients to facilitate prompt resolution. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and correspondence related to medical collections. Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation and coding compliance. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding standards, and insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance. Skills Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT coding, ICD\-9, ICD\-10, and DRG classifications. Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) platforms for accurate data entry and retrieval. Experience with medical billing processes, including claim submission, follow\-up, and collections. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies or errors in coding or documentation. Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff. Ability to adapt quickly to evolving regulations related to medical coding and billing practices.
