$27\.54/ hour

Summary (of position):

The Community Case Specialist (CCS) plays a key role in the day\-to\-day operations of our high\-traffic Veteran Community Center, creating a welcoming and supportive space for all veterans. This frontline position involves preparing the Center for day\-to\-day activities, assisting clients with navigating internal and external resources, and engaging with individuals who may be experiencing intoxication or active mental health symptoms. The ideal candidate is compassionate, adaptable, and committed to providing respectful, client\-centered support in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities:

· Prepare the Veteran Community Center and front desk before opening (e.g., make coffee, set out snacks, organize sign\-in sheets, manage TV) and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized environment throughout the day by wiping down surfaces daily.

· Engage guests and build a rapport to ensure a welcoming environment.

· Verify veteran and enrollment status, screen clients for needs, provide general information about available services (internal or external), and provide warm handoffs as needed.

· Distribute and collect Enrollment Packets to veterans; review with the veteran to ensure completion, collect enrollment documents, and coordinate next steps with veteran and Community Case Managers.

· Stay up to date on all Swords to Plowshares programs and Drop\-in and Veteran Community Center events.

· Maintain and update the Community Center’s materials, such as resource guides and event flyers. Ensure contact and programming information is up to the greatest extent possible.

· Perform administrative tasks, including data entry (e.g., ECM, progress notes), veteran status verification, filing, scanning, copying, faxing, and answering front desk phone.

· Document incident reports clearly and accurately.

· Support billing and other client\-related data entry tasks related to grant requirements.

· Maintain knowledge of all Swords to Plowshares Behavioral Policies, ensure guests are adhering to these policies and de\-escalate as needed.

· Work collaboratively with Veterans Community Center and Drop\-In clients and staff.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and de\-escalation techniques with a proven ability to effectively implement.
  • Familiarity with the Harm Reduction Philosophy
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer use
  • Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Effective time management and problem\-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working with diverse and at\-risk populations, including individuals experiencing intoxication or acute mental health symptoms
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodations

    Experience:

  • Minimum one (1\) year of experience in a fast\-paced social services setting, working with individuals facing behavioral health and substance use challenges
  • Military experience (preferred) and skills will be considered in lieu of direct experience
