Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail\-oriented Full\-time Family Law Assistant/Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support family law cases, assist clients through complex legal processes, and contribute to positive outcomes for families navigating sensitive situations. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, organizational skills, and a strong foundation in legal research and document management to our collaborative environment. This position is fully paid and provides a chance to grow professionally within a reputable law office committed to excellence and client advocacy. Hours are Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Training will be onsite and then hybrid is available.
Duties
- Assist attorney with all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, parenting time and spousal support proceedings.
- Prepare and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies.
- Manage case files efficiently using document management systems like Adobe, Clio and Dropbox; ensure all records are accurate and up\-to\-date.
- Interview clients, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather relevant information for case preparation.
- Draft correspondence, legal summaries, and reports while maintaining high standards of proofreading and transcription accuracy.
- Organize court filings, schedule hearings, and coordinate with courts and external agencies to ensure timely case progression.
- Support attorneys with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, document review, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Provide exceptional clerical support including phone etiquette, organizational skills, and administrative assistance to ensure smooth office operations.
- Proven paralegal experience in family law.
- Demonstrated ability in legal research, drafting legal documents, proofreading, transcription, and contract review.
- Experience in conducting interviews with clients or witnesses to gather detailed information effectively.
- Knowledge of court procedures related to family law cases across various jurisdictions.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting clear reports and correspondence; strong phone etiquette for client interactions.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while providing executive administrative support when needed.
