Responsibilities:
Serving as a strategic advisor to the Vice President of University Engagement and Enrichment (“Vice President”), this role builds and stewards high\-level relationships with internal and external stakeholders—representing the University at key events and extending partnerships nationally and internationally. Oversees a centralized strategy for engagement and enrichment education, implementing tailored curricula for diverse cohorts and championing its impact in advancing the University’s strategic plan. Additionally, this role directs OEE’s communications strategy by developing cohesive frameworks, tracking analytics, preparing assets, and coordinating responses to emerging events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
LEADERSHIP
- Serves as a member of the OEE Leadership team and acts as an aide to the Vice President.
- Acts as confidant, sounding board, and advisor to offer strategic perspective and guidance. A ssists in facilitating decision\-making with the Vice President.
- Coordinates relevant information from OEE leadership to create and implement workflows and projects that anticipate or respond to needs of the Vice President. Proactively identifies engagement and enrichment related needs and challenges impacting University campuses and schools.
- Manages meeting, strategy, and creation of briefing materials for Vice President.
- Serves on various cross\-functional teams to promote the vision and direction of the Vice President.
- Acts as a visible and accessible leader on all relevant university campuses; demonstrates commitment and pride in institution through actions and communication.
- Builds and maintains a thorough understanding of all areas of the organization to help determine priorities and increase overall organizational effectiveness.
- Identifies and brings forward opportunities to foster a culture of respect and inclusion for all faculty, staff, students, alumni, and members of the community and to advocate for the role that engagement and enrichment initiatives play in achieving institutional excellence.
- Oversees strategic coordination and management of the Vice President’s schedule and engagements.
- Builds and strengthens relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the office of the President, Provost, Trustees, leaders, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and others in support of the Vice President.
- Represents the University to external organizations and communities on matters of engagement and enrichment.
- Represents the office at campus events, galas, and fundraising events.
- Forms and maintains connections with relevant experts nationally and internationally to broaden the University’s reach and opportunities for collaboration and education.
- Oversees a centralized structure for engagement and enrichment education and curriculum for the entire University.
- Oversees the implementation of the educational curriculum.
- Champions engagement and enrichment learning and its importance in creating an affirming and respectful clinical, educational, research, living, and work environment, as outlined in the university Strategic Plan.
- Identifies strategic communication opportunities and priorities.
- Develops and implements cohesive, forward\-thinking communications strategies and frameworks t o drive OEE and University strategic goals.
- Tracks communication analytics and prepares reports. Evaluates data and monitors effectiveness. Makes recommendations to the VP based on collected data, and implements updates to the strategic communications plan based on ongoing evaluation.
- Executes the improvement of current channels and the development of new channels to achieve communication objectives specific to the office.
- Leads preparation of reports, briefings, presentations, speeches, and responses on strategic issues.
- Serves as primary speechwriter for VP.
- Establishes and maximizes presence on various multi\-media communication channels to share news, events, opportunities, and VP messages with internal and external communities. Ensures message consistency and cohesiveness.
- In close collaboration with University Communications and Marketing:
- Provides ongoing supervision and training, engages in performance management conversations and actions, conducts performance reviews, and manages personnel issues and actions.
- Discovers team needs, develops clear project roadmaps, and leads team in executing priorities based on needs.
- Assigns work according to each team member’s skillset and workload.
- Reviews work and provides constructive feedback.
- Provides coverage for the Executive Assistant as needed by providing administrative support to the VP.
- Master's degree required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10 years of leadership development and program management experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience required.
- 7\-10 years of related experience in a leadership role, higher education, academic medicine or related functional area preferred.
- Ability to collaborate cross\-functionally in an office environment and to interface with various university stakeholders and constituents required.
- Ability to embrace and drive change and to organize and effectively manage multiple priorities, programs, and projects required.
- Knowledge of Leadership Development solutions, research, and trends required.
- Successful track record in designing and executing successful training programs. Advanced facilitation skills (in\-person, virtual) required.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills; exceptional presentation skills. Demonstrated proficiency designing and delivering presentations required.
- Experience leading teams and developing positive relationships, partnerships, and alliances required.
- Experience with digital transformation and/or designing digital tools to improve efficiency preferred.
- Experience performing analysis of complex programs and implementing large\-scale changes for improvement preferred.
- Experience publishing and disseminating research findings in written and/or oral presentation at national/international conferences or venues preferred.
- Ability to optimize processes, streamline workflows, and improve efficiencies required.
