What you will be doing:

Join our collaborative and innovative team! The Department of Transportation \& Public Facilities is seeking a detail\-oriented Human Resources Technician 2 to support key HR functions and ensure smooth, compliant Workplace Alaska (WPA) recruitments. In this role, you will assist hiring managers throughout the hiring process and help provide an exceptional experience for applicants and staff.Key Responsibilities:

    • Review recruitment bulletins and request corrections to ensure compliance.
    • Assist hiring managers with applicant disposition, job offer approvals, notification letters, and legal hire verification.
    • Close and archive job requests and help track WPA hires.
    • Respond to inquiries from hiring managers, employees, and the public about WPA and hiring procedures.
    • Provide guidance on interview questions, reference checks, and recruitment best practices.
    • Make minimum qualification determinations, including on complex or unique applications.

      Minimum Qualifications

    • --------------------------
    • Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

      Substitution:

      Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.

      Substitution:

      One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.

      Special Note:

      High school graduation "equivalent" means one of the following: 1\) a G.E.D (i.e. passing the General Educational Development test).; 2\) completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week); 3\) six months of work experience performing duties related to office or clerical support; 4\) twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support; 5\) highest grade of school completed plus any kind of work experience that totals 12 years or more; or 6\) acceptance for admission in full standing by an accredited college or university.

      "Human resource" work includes experience in recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel, payroll, or employee or labor relations.
