WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

    • Greet and assist the public with a wide variety of requests both in person and by phone.
    • Work as part of a team to perform necessary clerical functions in support of law enforcement.
    • Perform complex data entry, conduct case research, and facilitate the transmission of incident reports to the District Attorney’s Office.
    • Work hours are Monday\-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

      This position is located at the Soldotna State Trooper Post on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Office space consists of individual workstations in an open area with a shared workstation located at the front counter to work directly with the public. The work area is shared with three other administrative staff members, but other staff in the building frequently move through the space while en route to the conference room or to use shared office equipment. Individuals must be able to work with frequent interruptions and be able to work well with others in order to be successful in this position.       Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or the equivalent.

      AND

      One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

      Substitution:

      Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).

      Special Note:

      "High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1\) a G.E.D.; 2\) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3\) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4\) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.

      Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.

      Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.

      BACKGROUND CHECK

      This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.

      The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety to qualify for this position.
