WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Working under the direction of the Bureau Administrator, Fire Training Specialists play a vital role in coordinating Fire Service Training, Fire Prevention and Community Risk Reduction initiatives, and Public Education programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, developing, and coordinating training programs aligned with both local and nationally adopted standards.
- Designing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive training curricula to meet the needs of the fire service, the public, and industry stakeholders.
- Supporting and advancing initiatives that enhance fire prevention and community safety through innovative education and outreach efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
An Associate degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution in Fire Science Technology or a closely related field;
AND
Three years of fire prevention or suppression experience, one year of which was in a capacity as a trainer or instructor.
Substitution:
Additional fire prevention or suppression experience may be substituted for the required education on a year\-for\-year basis.
Special Note:
Certification as a fire service instructor is desirable.

SPECIAL NOTE:
The Bureau has access to department fleet vehicles that may not be available for staff use when needed. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work\-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the state.
BACKGROUND CHECK
