At the Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC), we maintain the digital backbone for a specialized fleet of world\-class research aircraft and cutting\-edge autonomous platforms. This isn't a standard corporate IT desk; you will be supporting the systems that enable the next generation of flight—from sonic boom research to high\-altitude science. The Role
We are looking for a Level 1 System Administrator who is resourceful, curious, and ready to work in a high\-consequence environment. You might not know every answer yet, but you know how to use the tools at your disposal to find them. Key Responsibilities:* Infrastructure Support: Install, configure, and maintain workstations and servers (physical, virtual, and cloud) that support flight research data.
* Maintenance: Perform software installations, OS upgrades, and layered package deployments in accordance with strict federal IT policies.
* Integrity \& Recovery: Execute system backups, database archives, and media management to ensure mission data is never lost.
* Compliance: Conduct routine hardware/software audits to ensure we meet rigorous security standards and configuration guidelines.
* Documentation: Maintain a comprehensive library of system configurations and standard operating procedures.
Requirements* Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is a non\-negotiable requirement.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree is a Requirement
* Experience: 1–2 years of practical IT experience.
* Technical Familiarity: A fundamental understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, Imaging, and SCCM.
* The "Find a Way" Attitude: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues using available technical resources and documentation.
* Location: Must reside within a 45\-minute commute of Edwards AFB. No remote work; no relocation.
