Job Overview

The Payroll Specialist at Foundation Dental Specialists is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for clinical and administrative staff across the practice. This role manages complex compensation structures common in dental settings—such as hourly wages, salaries, production\-based pay, and bonuses—while ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations and maintaining strict confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi\-weekly or semi\-monthly payroll for dentists, hygienists, assistants, and administrative staff
  • Calculate and verify various pay structures, including hourly wages, salaries, production\-based compensation, bonuses, and commissions
  • Review and validate timesheets, schedules, and payroll data for accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations
  • Manage payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records within payroll and HR systems
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll processes
  • Collaborate with HR and management on onboarding, terminations, and compensation changes
  • Prepare payroll reports for leadership and assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Support year\-end payroll activities, including W\-2 preparation and distribution
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee information
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • 2\+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in healthcare or dental environments
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and timekeeping software
  • Understanding of payroll tax laws and compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll platforms
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with dental compensation models (production\-based pay, collections\-based bonuses)
  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar
  • Basic accounting knowledge and reconciliation experience
  • Ability to manage payroll for multi\-location practices
  • Strong communication and problem\-solving skills
  • Pay: $25\.67 \- $30\.91 per hour
