The Insurance Verification Coordinator at Dentistry On Swann is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to appointments. This role ensures accurate billing, minimizes claim denials, and helps create a smooth financial experience for patients. The ideal candidate is detail\-oriented, organized, and experienced in dental insurance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient dental insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details prior to scheduled appointments
  • Confirm coverage for procedures, including preventive, basic, and major services
  • Obtain and document accurate information on deductibles, co\-pays, co\-insurance, waiting periods, and annual maximums
  • Communicate verified benefits and estimated patient responsibility to front desk staff and/or patients
  • Enter and update insurance information accurately in the practice management system
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in coverage or eligibility
  • Coordinate with front office, billing team, and clinical staff to ensure accurate treatment planning and billing
  • Maintain organized and compliant documentation of all verification activities
  • Stay up to date on insurance payer policies and changes
  • Assist with pre\-authorizations and referrals when required
  • Support efforts to reduce claim denials and improve reimbursement accuracy
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in dental administration or healthcare preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in dental insurance verification, billing, or front office operations
  • Strong understanding of dental insurance plans (PPO, HMO, indemnity)
  • Familiarity with CDT coding and dental terminology preferred
  • Experience with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience handling pre\-authorizations and claim follow\-up
  • Ability to interpret insurance breakdowns and explain financial responsibility clearly
  • Strong problem\-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems
  • Pay: $23\.37 \- $28\.14 per hour
