Description of Work
This Rehabilitation Casework Technician position is located in the Hickory VR/IL Unit Office in Catawba County. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and casework support to the assigned Rehabilitation Counselors delivering services to individuals receiving Independent Living Services through the Hickory EIPD Unit. This position will work in collaboration with the Vocational Rehabilitation and Independent Living Counselors to assist eligible individuals with significant disabilities to live independently with their families, in their homes, and communities and achieve their identified goals.
Job responsibilities include the following:
- Interviewing consumers and gathering diagnostic reports to assist counselors with determining eligibility and required services
- Assisting with developing written plans of services in conjunction with the consumer, parent and/or guardian
- Conducting in\-person home visits with consumers for the purpose of assessment and service provision
- Documenting casework data and the provision of substantial services throughout the rehabilitation process in the case management system
- Preparing documents, filing, scheduling, inputting casework data, including invoices, billing documents, and correspondence to support consumer services
- Working with community employers/partners to assist in directly place highly qualified consumers in appropriate jobs leading to successful employment outcomes
- Providing other support as designated by the counselor and completing all related administrative tasks
- Knowledge of and/or experience working with people with disabilities
- Experience providing effective front\-line service to the public, including responding to inquiries, resolving concerns, and maintaining professionalism in a fast paced setting
- Ability to be flexible, detail\-oriented and organized with multiple priority assignments
