- Property Tax Collection: Assess and collect property taxes for all eligible commercial and residential property owners and entities. Calculate property taxes based on appraised values and ensure collection and distribution to the appropriate entities.
- Motor Vehicle Services: Manage commercial and residential vehicle registration, issue license plates, and handle vehicle title transfers, including the collection of associated fees.
- Voter Registration: Oversee voter registration within the county, issue voter registration certificates, and maintain an accurate voter registration roll.
- Additional Revenue Collection: Collecting certain fees, fines, and revenues related to permits or state mandates, depending on the county’s needs.
- Research and prepare certified tax statements for court proceedings.
- Process and research various types of judgment payments.
- Perform tax cancellations within the property tax system.
- Manually enter payments into the property tax system and ensure deposit balances.
- Scan and assign litigated checks into the retention program.
- Conduct complex research activities, including account identification, proof of payment verification, transfer and correction requests, and historical document analysis.
- Search property records using data from county agencies, such as the Harris County
- Appraisal District, the District \& County Clerk’s Offices.
- Communicate with internal departments and external law firms as needed. Provide customer service support for the litigation department phone line.
- Assist with property tax phone inquiries on overflow days.
- Review and sort incoming mail.
- Report system errors, customer service issues, and operational anomalies to management.
- Participate in cross\-training with other areas within the Property Tax Division.
- Work overtime on weekdays and weekends during tax season as required.

- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution within the U.S.
- Minimum of three (3\) years of experience in clerical and/or administrative experience in tax, finance, or accounting\-related role.
- Minimum of three (3\) years of PC experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent reading comprehension and verbal/written communication skills.
- Exceptional attendance and punctuality.
- Personal Computer (PC) experience, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to interact and coordinate with other departments

- Knowledge of the Texas Property Tax Appraisal and Collection Process
- Good decision\-making and problem\-solving abilities

- Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Legal Studies, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
- Experience in property tax administration, litigation support, government finance, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with litigated, bankruptcy, or government\-prorated tax accounts.
- Basic knowledge of Property Tax Appraisal and Collection process.

- Work is performed primarily in an office setting subject to frequent interruptions with extensive work at a computer workstation.
- This is a full\-time, in\-office position. Remote work is not available unless specifically authorized based on operational needs.
- Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours and attend training sessions may be required.

Job Summary:
The Litigation Deputy Specialist is responsible for performing detailed research and preparing certified tax statements for use in court proceedings. This position processes a variety of judgment\-related payments and provides customer assistance through the Property Tax phone line. The role ensures all legal and financial documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with applicable laws, regulations, and departmental policies. This is a full\-time, in\-office position.
