The Duxbury Public Schools is seeking exceptional candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools to provide management and leadership for curriculum and instruction. The expected start date for this position is July 1, 2026\.

The duties of the Assistant Superintendent include the following:

  • Attends all School Committee meetings and makes appropriate reports to the Committee as directed by the Committee or the Superintendent of Schools;
  • Coordinates the selection and administration of assessment programs including standardized tests, local and state mandated assessment instruments, and educational research activities and reports on same;
  • Supervises the planning, development, and evaluation of curriculum for grades PreK\-12;
  • Supervises the Curriculum Supervisors and the subject area Department Head Heads/Coordinators and serves as the communication link between them and the Administrative Team for PreK\-12 curriculum articulation;
  • Plans and supervises the implementation of system staff development, including mentoring, issuing Professional Development Points (PDP’s) for certification and recertification;
  • Coordinates requirements for state and federal mandates related to curriculum and instruction;
  • Keeps informed of and acts as a resource regarding all legal requirements governing students;
  • Acts as Coordinator for Title IX and Chapter 622;
  • Supervises English language learning services and programs;
  • Supervises programs and acts as liaison to all students participating in home education;
  • Monitors all residency/attendance matters;
  • Acts as the Coordinator of Grants or supervises the coordination of grants:
  • + Serves as liaison to the Duxbury Education Foundation, Inc., and assists Directors of the Foundation in seeking grants;
  • + Seeks out grant opportunities through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, other state agencies, the Federal Government, and private sources;

    + Writes grant proposals and assists teachers and administrators in writing proposals;

    + Writes follow\-up reports and maintains files related to the grant\-seeking process and coordinates information with the school department business office;

  • Participates in personal professional development;
  • Assumes responsibility of the entire school system in the absence of the Superintendent of Schools;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Job Qualifications:

  • Current Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification as a Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Administration, or relevant area of study, PhD or Ed.D preferred
  • Ten years of experience in teaching and building administration
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff parents/caregivers, and community members
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Committee may find acceptable
  • Required criminal history background check
  • Authorization necessary for employment
  • Access to mentoring from current or former school administrators

Salary is commensurate with experience and relevant licensure.
