Summary
The Director of Internal Compliance Audits has four major functions. First, the Auditor ensures institutional compliance through onsite campus visits, remote view, surveys, and other methods to formally identify risks via an audit work plan or protocol. Second, the Auditor will oversee remediation efforts once an audit is completed. Third, the Auditor will provide input into policy and best practice development and revision to overcome and prevent compliance infractions and maintain a strong compliance culture throughout Spartan. Finally, the Auditor will continuously research topics to support audit planning, and effective evaluation of campus and staff compliance audit related performance and deliver related training.
Priorities
- Develop, implement, and maintain an audit program.
- Audit campuses for compliance with accreditor and state requirements, understanding that compliance with federal and programmatic requirements are included in maintaining overall compliance with accreditors and state regulators.
- Assist campuses in remediating audit findings.
- Provide input into development of policies, procedures, and resources to overcome and prevent audit findings.
- Research topics to support audit planning, and effective evaluation of campus and staff compliance audit related performance and deliver related training.
- Perform campus audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, state, accreditor, and other regulatory agency standards.
- Complete and present detailed audit results to a variety of levels of the organization.
- Engage various levels of the organization to ensure processes and procedures are updated to address audit deficiencies.
- Perform ongoing research and monitoring support related to regulatory changes to ensure compliance by the campuses, faculty and staff with national and programmatic accreditation standards, and state licensing regulations.
- Follow audit protocols to ensure campuses are monitored and evaluated in fair and accurate manner.
- Regular travel to all campuses to prepare for site visits and audit for compliance with standards.
- Provide training to campus leaders, staff, faculty and remote employees.
- Prepare audit reports that are accurate, easy to understand, actionable as well as maintain a record of audit performance and provide detailed analytical reports regarding audit deficiencies as requested.
- Participate in professional development each year as required.
- Assume a voting role on the policy committee.
- And other duties assigned.
- Audit marketing and admissions materials, blogs, social, etc. as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of and substantive experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within postsecondary education.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail including the ability to review accreditation and regulatory materials, develop training, and build assessments of institutional compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
- At least three years of experience working with compliance, state licensing, and national accrediting agencies.
