Yorkville High School has a vacancy for a Marching Band Assistant for the 2026\-2027 School Year.
The Marching Band performs at home football games and away competitions. The role of the Marching Band Assistant is to work with students on the field during rehearsals. The instructor will be engaged in providing support to students for their visual responsibilities (i.e. learning drill) and may also help with running small musical ensemble rehearsals. The Marching Band Assistant position will also be responsible for helping in the logistics of supervision of students and equipment when traveling to performances off campus. The Marching Band Assistant will be expected to be at all rehearsals and performances+ Maintains attendance records for practices and events
+ Works within the given budget and keeps accurate records of the monies used and received
+ Follows fundraising procedures according to District policies
+ Recruits student participants each school year
+ Requests room space for meetings and events
+ Schedules trips and competitions for the season and communicates plans with administration
+ Manages and supervises the use of facilities during activities and events
+ Confirms the security of the facilities
+ Ensures that students have a way to get home and remains present until the last student is released
+ Engages students in community service activities
+ Maintains positive relationships with students and interacts with students and adults in a respectful manner
+ Collaborates with administration to maintain the vision of the Strategic Goals and purpose of the club/activity
+ Uses appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
+ Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the club
+ Completes all training and certification required by the District
+ Other duties as required
+ Instruct August marching band camp
+ Instruct fall rehearsals daily 3\-5 PM
+ Instruct all home football games
+ Instruct 4\-5 away competition performances
+ Instruct weekly sectionals
+ Coordinate with Head Marching Band Director
+ Coordinate with marching band instruction team
+ Performs other related tasks as assigned by the program administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
+ Organize and maintain marching equipment and costuming
+ Demonstrate proper and safe use of marching equipment
+ Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
+ Travels on school district provided transportation to and from away performances
SKILLS: Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE: Previous successful experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred. Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols.
ABILITY: Establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed
Stipend Range: $3,495 \- $5,856
Stipend is subject to the collective bargaining agreement attached here.
