- This position is an on\-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.
- Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver’s license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university\-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. - This position offers either 40 hours per week for 11 month per year or (.915 FTE) 40 hours per week for 12 months per year (1\.0 FTE).

- Work with the Peer Jacks team and colleagues across campus to develop and maintain innovative, theory\-based approaches to working with first\-year students.
- Establish program goals and learning outcomes; develop activities, curriculum, training, services, and initiatives to accomplish goals related to serving a diverse student population.
- Working with the Director and Assistant Director, benchmark best practices, review the latest research, and assess current strategies to revise practices and incorporate emerging techniques and technologies for improving student engagement and retention.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and evaluation of services/events that provide innovative, meaningful and supportive experiences to students that integrate academic learning and individual growth.
- Plan and facilitate hybrid and in\-person events, activities, and services for first\-year students that integrate academic learning, wellness, sense of belonging, and opportunities for growth and professional development.
- Work with a diverse student and employee population using awareness of the principles of inclusive excellence to support an effective work, community, and service\-oriented environment.
- Actively engage with diverse student populations to ensure that department programs are inclusive and reflect the diversity of the campus community.
- Coordinate and participate in Orientations, Discover NAU Days, NAU Said Yes, and other campus events to promote department services, including call and outreach campaigns surrounding enrollment, academic status, and other issues.
- Assist with the management of program resources including program budget, purchase approvals, and maintenance of program spaces and inventory.
- Ensure the use of space/resources is consistent with program/department goals.
- Manage Peer Jacks Mentoring spaces, including the PJ lounge and equipment.
- Assist in the planning and hosting of program fieldtrips, events, and opportunities where mentees can engage and connect outside of one\-on\-one meetings.
- Assist with the management of the Peer Jacks website.
- Coordinate with peer mentors, campus partners, and program leadership in the creation/maintenance of a semester event calendar for program, NAU and community events, through social media platforms, online calendars, and website.
- Provide guidance and consistency in policy and procedure decisions within the department.
- Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate peer mentors.
- Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate Graduate Assistants.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive working team environment.
- Organize and facilitate regular opportunities for oversight, professional development and feedback conversations.
- Develop and facilitate workshops, trainings, and team meetings provided to student employees and Graduate Assistants to assist them in their professional development and introduce them to diverse resources and campus partners.
- Ensure compliance with safety and HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with various campus partners to identify strategies for student engagement, retention and success.
- Collaborate with faculty, student affairs staff, and other university departments in creating experiences to increase student engagement.
- Serve as the department’s Orientation, Welcome Week, Off\-Campus Partnerships and major campus events liaison.
- Represent the department on various committees, work groups and employee forums.
- Manage the university console and the educational resources and announcements sections of Louie’s List, NAU’s off\-campus housing website.
- Use aptitude and achievement assessments to help students explore their interests, skills, and abilities.
- Collaborate with various campus partners to identify strategies for student retention and success.
- Help maintain department related data used to conduct research and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Work with team members to develop a strategic vision for the department, accomplish associated projects, analyze and assess outcomes, and foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.

- Undergraduate bachelor’s degree.
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- Master’s Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Educational Administration, Counseling, or related field Leadership curriculum development.
- Experience with peer mentoring best practices.
- Experience in supervision of student employees.
- Background in training development \& facilitation.
- Intermediate user of PeopleSoft \& Salesforce.
- Knowledge of student development theory and application.
- Knowledge and experience working with New Majority students in higher education (this includes first\-year, first generation, older, racially and ethnically diverse student populations).
- Understanding of working with students in a Hispanic Serving Institution.
- Knowledge of current physical health, mental health, alcohol and drug use, and social issues on university campuses.
- Knowledge of primary factors that impact student retention and common strategies used to increase student success.
- Knowledge of higher education law, including FERPA, Title IX, HIPAA, etc.

#### About the Position
This position supports a dynamic team that provides services and support to assist students in their development at the university through the integration of academic learning and individual growth and aims to ensure meaningful and purposeful experiences and interactions that foster a successful path towards graduation. Peer Jacks Mentoring is a high impact Student Affairs program with a team that is composed of student staff, graduate assistants and professional staff that serves a diverse population of first\-year students. The Coordinator is responsible for managing the Peer Jacks peer mentor program, the Peer Jacks Lounge, and a variety of engagement opportunities for first\-year students on the Flagstaff Mountain campus. The Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Peer Jacks Mentoring. This position includes commitments outside university business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) including nights (approximately 1\-2 per week, primarily during the fall and spring semesters) and weekends (approximately once a month). Some travel may also be required.

Budgeted salary is $46,779\. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
12 month 1\.0 FTE:

Each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on\-campus student housing.
